Editorial Policy

How we create, review, and maintain the content you read on Roomit AI. Our standards for accuracy, independence, transparency, and ethics.

Accuracy & Fact-Checking

  • All factual claims in our guides and city pages are verified against primary sources, official university websites, and government housing data.
  • We do not invent statistics, vacancy rates, or user counts. Every data point is traceable to a real source.
  • Content is reviewed quarterly for accuracy. Outdated information is updated or removed within 30 days of discovery.

Independence & No Conflicts of Interest

  • Our content is created independently of advertisers, partners, and investors. No external party has editorial control over our guides or comparisons.
  • Competitor comparisons (Roomit vs Roomi, Craigslist, etc.) are based on publicly available features and documented user experiences. We do not accept payment for favorable coverage.
  • When we recommend Roomit, we explain why and provide alternatives. Transparency is more valuable than conversion.

Expertise & Authorship

  • Our roommate guides are researched and written by housing industry experts, former property managers, and experienced renters.
  • Every guide has a named author and a review date. Authors are subject-matter experts in housing, urban studies, or consumer safety.
  • We disclose author credentials and expertise areas on every article.

Sourcing & Citations

  • We cite authoritative sources for all research-based claims: academic papers, government housing reports, university statistics, and recognized industry publications.
  • City pages use only verifiable data: real universities (from official .edu sites), real neighborhood names (from municipal sources), and qualitative market notes from local knowledge.
  • We do not use anonymous sources or unverified social media claims as evidence.

Accessibility & Inclusivity

  • Our content is written in plain language and checked for accessibility (WCAG 2.1 AA compliance).
  • We use inclusive language that respects all gender identities, cultural backgrounds, and living situations.
  • Content is available in English, Spanish, French, Portuguese, and German. Translations are reviewed by native speakers.

Corrections & Updates

  • Errors are corrected within 48 hours of discovery. Significant corrections include a note explaining the change.
  • Last-updated dates are visible on every guide and city page. We review and refresh content quarterly.
  • Readers can report errors via [email protected]. All reports are investigated and responded to within 72 hours.
