Terms of Service

By creating a Roomit account or using the Roomit app, you agree to these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use Roomit.

You must be at least 17 years old and legally able to enter into a binding contract to use Roomit. You agree to provide accurate information about yourself and to keep that information current.

You are responsible for activity that occurs under your account. Keep your login credentials confidential. Notify us promptly if you suspect unauthorized access. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms or our community guidelines.

You agree not to:

• Impersonate any person or misrepresent your identity, age, or affiliation
• Post unlawful, harassing, defamatory, or fraudulent content
• Use Roomit for commercial solicitation outside of room or roommate listings
• Scrape, mirror, or otherwise extract data from Roomit by automated means
• Attempt to interfere with the service, bypass security measures, or reverse engineer the app
• Discriminate against users on the basis of race, religion, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or other protected category

Roomit provides a platform that connects roommates and people with rooms to fill. We do not own, manage, lease, or rent any listed property, and we are not a party to any agreement you enter into with another user. You are solely responsible for evaluating roommates, listings, and any in-person meeting or financial transaction.

Roomit+ is a recurring subscription billed through Apple's App Store or Google Play. Your subscription renews automatically at the price disclosed at purchase until you cancel through your App Store or Google Play settings. We may change pricing on prospective renewals with reasonable notice. One-time boosters are non-refundable.

You retain ownership of the content you post on Roomit. By posting, you grant Roomit a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, display, and distribute that content as needed to operate the service. You represent that you have the rights necessary to grant this license and that your content does not violate any third-party rights.

Roomit's features are powered by artificial intelligence — an AI assistant you can chat with, live voice conversations, AI-generated compatibility insights, and personalized recommendations and rankings. These features are delivered through third-party AI providers, currently OpenAI (generation and voice) and LangChain (LangSmith) (AI request monitoring). Because these features are core to Roomit, using the app requires your consent to this processing; when you use an AI feature, you authorize Roomit to send the information needed to provide it to these providers, as described in our Privacy Policy.

• AI outputs — including compatibility scores, insights, summaries, and suggestions — are automated estimates provided for your convenience. They are not guarantees, promises, professional advice, or a binding decision about you or anyone else.
• AI can be wrong. Generative AI may produce inaccurate, incomplete, biased, or misleading output (sometimes called “hallucinations”). Independently verify anything important before you rely on it.
• You remain solely responsible for your own decisions — including who you choose to contact, meet, or live with. A high compatibility score is not a safety endorsement, an identity guarantee, or a background check. Always follow our Safety guidance and meet new people safely.
• Compatibility scoring and recommendations involve automated processing of the profile information and preferences you provide. Because these AI features are integral to Roomit, your consent to this processing is required to use the app; you can review your consent in Settings, and withdrawing it means you'll be asked to agree again before you can continue using Roomit.
• Under our agreements, our AI providers do not use your data to train their models, and AI prompt/response content is not retained for training purposes.
• You may not use Roomit’s AI features to generate unlawful, harassing, deceptive, or infringing content; to attempt to obtain another user’s personal information; to reverse engineer or extract the underlying models; or to build a competing product or dataset.

AI features are provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. We may add, modify, limit, suspend, or discontinue any AI feature or provider at any time. If an automated output produces a legal or similarly significant effect for you, you may contact us at our contact page to request human review.

You may stop using Roomit and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these terms or if we believe your continued use poses a risk to other users or to us. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (intellectual property, indemnity, limitations of liability, dispute resolution) will survive.

Roomit is provided "as is" and "as available." We do not warrant that compatibility scoring will produce successful roommate matches, that the service will be uninterrupted, or that any information you receive through Roomit is accurate. Use Roomit at your own risk and exercise reasonable judgement when meeting roommates in person.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Roomit AI, Inc., its officers, employees, and agents will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, revenue, or goodwill, arising from your use of Roomit. Our total aggregate liability will not exceed the amount you paid to us in the twelve months preceding the claim, or one hundred US dollars, whichever is greater.

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Roomit AI, Inc. from any claims, damages, or expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from your use of Roomit, your content, or your violation of these terms.

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. Disputes will be resolved by binding individual arbitration administered by JAMS under its Streamlined Arbitration Rules, in San Francisco, California. You and Roomit waive any right to a jury trial and to participate in a class action. You may opt out of arbitration within 30 days of creating your account by emailing [email protected].

We may update these terms from time to time. Material changes will be announced in the app or by email at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use of Roomit after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
